Hide the Desktop Agent for certain machines

$

Hi There,
I know you can hide the agent tray icon for all machines.
Is there anyway to hide the agent for only certain machines? We have terminal/Citrix servers where we don't want the users to see the tray icon.

If not, are there any plans in the roadmap for development?

Kind Regards,
James.

Re : Local users on Windows Servers based on the accounts in User Management

Hi Rene,

Thank you for raising the post. Your understanding is partially correct.  You can remotely reset/change password for local user account using 'User Mgmt configurations' from Desktop Central.

However User Administration and Roles is not for end user or locals users on client machine. It is for Technicians/Administrators you are going to login into Desktop Central application for management.

This is not complete AD/Workgroup User Management and Self service credentials reset tool.

User Management : Create/Modify/Delete Local users in the remote computer.

Group Management : Create/Modify/Delete Local Groups in the remote computer.

Trust this helps!

Hi Stefan,

Welcome to our Forums!

Reported error cannot be concluded with this log print alone. We need lot more information on your setup/infra connectivity along complete Agent side logs, Distribution Server logs and Server logs too.

It better you contact our Support team (desktopcentral-support@manageengine.com) with all the above logs and information to investigate and resolve the issue.

Appreciate your understanding.

I am trying to add network shared printer through desktop central, when I browse 'Shared Network Printer Path', I can't see any printer in the list.
Should I install desktop central agent on print server?
Can some one provide some details?

Thanks,
Adam

Hi James,

Thank you for the raising the post. As of now, you cannot disable/restrict the Agent tray icon for certain computers alone. It is global settings for all managed computers.

You can raise the Feature/Enhancement request by filling the form below:

Hi Graven,

Thanks for your participation in this forum post.

I guess you have deployed the package without providing the installation arguments. And that's why the installation gets stuck in, in-progress state for long time.

Please edit the software package, provide the correct installation arguments and then deploy. If the issue still persist, contact our Support team (desktopcentral-support@manageengine.com)
with the complete agent logs to check and assist further on this case.

Hi Adam,

Appreciate your forum post.

If the server machine could not discover the printer(OS level), then it may not be listed when browsing it from the configuration.

However, You can provide the UNC path for the printer and the deploy the printer to the client machine.

If the printer is accessible from the client machine during the deployment, then it will be deployed successfully.

Looking forward to assisting you.

Hi Chris Primes,

Appreciate your response.

I have cross checked with my development team on this and as you have seen in the other post, you can achieve your requirement by applying shortcut configuration for specific users.

You will need to create a shortcut configuration by targeting the dcagenttrayicon.exe with argument -ssp. Please refer the attached screenshot for your understanding. If you have all the 64 bit machine, you can enter the complete path as C:\Program Files (x86)\DesktopCentral_Agent\bin\dcagenttrayicon.exe in the target application box. If you have 64 and 32 bit, kindly enter $programfiles\DesktopCentral_Agent\bin\dcagenttrayicon.exe

Please try this on couple of machines. If this doesn't work, please contact support to get personalized assistance. You can write email to desktopcentral-support@manageengine.com

Hi,

the name our domain is                                          company.cologne
the  NETBIOS nmae  (pre-windows 2000 name):      company- col

The Scope of Management is to both domain.
For example a list of computer

Computer    Domain
PC01          company.cologne
PC02          company- col
PC03          company.cologne
...

Is this a problem?
If I define a target which name I have to select company.cologne or company- col ?
It does not matter?

Rainer

Hi Rainer

Thank you for the post. You can manage multiple Domains and add them under Scope of Mgmt respectively,

Regarding adding under Define target, it doesn't matter you have to browse and select the machine from Domain.

This kind of queries, better to include screenshot for clarity.

Desktop Central MSP Public FQDN no NAT Local DNS Pointer

$

Do I have to use a NAT on my firewall for Desktop Central MSP. I have ServiceDesk Plus MSP setup on the same server as my Desktop Central MSP " Just Setup Testing". I have a Public FQDM for both and both are setup on the public DNS. SDP.mydomain.net DTC.mydomain.net.
I have setup my local DNS to point SDP & DTC to local server address " 192.#.#.#". From a public computer, I can access SDP using Http://SDP.mydomain.net:8070 and everything works great..
But from the same public computer if I use Http://DTC.mydomain.net:8040 I can't access Desktop Central MSP it times out. I know the request is getting to the correct local server because if I use Http://DNS or DTC.mydomain.net I get the IIS Page.I have also set the local server host file with the 192.#.#.# SDP.mydomain.net and DTC.mydomain.net.
So why does SDP work and DTC not work?
Does DTC have to have a NAT or did I miss something?
Sorry, the rule in the firewall has all the port for both setup just not nated.
Thanks

Hi BobbyHuckaby,

Thank you for your post in our forums.

It is important to configure NATing in your firewall for the external machines to reach your DC MSP server which is installed with in your local network. Kindly the request to go through your firewall via 8040 port so that you can access the console.
