Is it standard practice with Desktop Central that it gets installed on
systems and not updated often?
I'm serious, I'd really like to know if this is generally how it's done. That way I can stop trying to be proactive and keep it updated like all of the other software I manage.
Desktop Central is designed to update software and vulnerable systems, is it not? Why then is it like pulling teeth to get an update to Desktop Central itself in order to patch a long-standing vulnerability that has had a patch released for 9 weeks already by it's publisher? I've personally been asking for over a month.
There has to be a better way than emailing support back and forth over 6 weeks time to get one patch, that I know about.
What about other vulnerabilities out there in the future that I don't know about? Those I can wait upwards of 3-4 weeks for a newsletter notification telling me that a hotfix is available?
There has to be a better way. I implore your support to escalate this internally and figure something better out.
Email sent to support, again, awaiting a reply.
