The point 1 of replication error is already handled i suppose. So, moving to the latest hotfix would do the fix. Regarding, point 2 i might need the Server side logs to analyze and assist you on this.

Yes. You can install the DC agent to install the windows and 3rd party patches on the DC server installed computer.3. Do you recommend to install an agent to DC master server itself? (for patch update)
From the Distribution Server's (DS) point of view, the replication of patches and the software happens only when the targets available under the DS are included in the configuration. The patch and software package folder on DC server can be changed from the Admin tab. However, in DS the Patch repository can be changed4. In general, what is the disk storage size used by distribution server? Can we change the patch/software package cache folder path to other location? For example, D: drive
