Hi Frank,

The scan is based on the manual scan and Automated Patch Task.  However, the scan cannot be stopped during run time, instead you can change the scan schedule from the business hours to non-peak business hours.

Alternatively, I would like to update that the Patch scan would not take more resources.  Does the client computers have good system configuration?  I can help you in troubleshooting that.
